Search For missing Swimmer

Thursday 6th August 2009
Time: 14:25 - 17:00

Both lifeboats were launched to search for a missing swimmer.

A swimmer thought to be a local man aged about 25 had gone missing after getting into trouble swimming near the Britannia Pier.

The Gorleston Inshore Lifeboat had already been sent earlier then the two Caister boats launched to aid the search.

We were helped from the air by the Air Ambulance and two commercial helicopters as well.

Unfortunately after an extensive search covering an area from the Pier to well North of Caister Lifeboat shed we were stood down with the search being unsuccesful.
