Anthony Benson

Daytime Job: I am a retired Secondary School Teacher. I spent most of my career teaching in Norwich as a Design and Technology Teacher specifically with responsibilities for Electronics GCSE, A level Technology and ICT also becoming an Assistant Head of Year for the Sixth Form. More recently I was a teacher in Gorleston until my retirement in 2012.

Joined: I have family ties to Caister Lifeboat going back many years. My father was Chairman of the appeal for what became the first Bernard Matthews, but personally I joined the 1901 Commemoration Committee in year 2000 to assist in preparations for the following years centenary commemoration. After that I became a Member of the Directors for several rotations, first helping with the appeal for the current Valentin Lifeboat, and later assisting the Secretary in recording the minutes, working with the chairman and others to make positive decisions to further the cause.

Most rewarding part of volunteering/service: Seeing people of all ages come into the Caister Lifeboat Experience Centre engage in what we have to offer, talk with them, hopefully enrichen their experience, and later see them smile and donate to our cause, especially if they Join the Friends of Caister Lifeboat.

As an independent Lifeboat we depend entirely on donations
