Bernard Matthews II
Paged at 12.38.59 BST to 38 Foot Yacht Juliet at 52°41.31N 001°46.22E. Caister Lifeboat Bernard Matthews II launched at 1150UTC and v
isual with ETA of 5mins at 1152UTC. Alongside vessel at 1157UTC and under tow at 1205UTC. Weather conditions wind southeast slight, full ebb tide. Travelling 5 to 5.5knots, up to 6.5 inside Scroby bank. Reached Yarmouth Harbour at 1329UTC and vessel moored up at Richards Dry Dock at 1355UTC. Crew set off to return to station at 1400UTC.

Details of vessel and crew:

Peter Burton and Les White, owner of the boat, set off from Burnham on Crouch on Friday. Moored in Yarmouth town hall quay overnight Monday, departed about 1130BST, heading for Spurn Head on passage to Whitby and onward around Britain. No reported engine problems on route from Burnham, but after an hour or so at sea, wind conditions required engine power on ebb tide heading north with still wind. Progressed under engine power for approx one hour making good speed but engine revved down and stopped indicating fuel starvation. Previous day one fuel filter was replaced but the other couldn't be separated. That one was replaced in Yarmouth in daylight Tuesday. Crew suspect fuel filter is blocked by contaminated fuel. No other mechanical defect known and boat was checked thoroughly before setting off from Burnham on Crouch last week.

Launched by Richard Miles, Crew Coxswain Paul Williams, Assistant Coxswain Tom Williams, Paul Garrod, Andrew Turner and Jason Delf. Lifeboat recovered by Greg Carter.
