With a shop, cafe, toilets, car parking and beach access, visitors of all ages are most welcome!

The Caister Lifeboat Experience

The Caister Lifeboat Experience was opened in 2009 inĀ our Old Lifeboat Shed by High Steward, Michael Falcon CBE. With plenty for all the family to see & do, this interactive heritage museum gives you the opportunity to get on board our vintage lifeboat the "Shirley Jean Adye", have a go at sending Morse Code messages, see how tides affect ships and learn about the many dramatic rescues we have been involved with, including the Beauchamp Caister Lifeboat disaster.

Perfect for younger visitors!

There's plenty to keep younger visitors occupied at Caister Lifeboat. They can dress up in waterproof lifeboat kit and get on board & explore our heritage lifeboat - The Shirley Jean Adye. There are games and activities to play whilst you can hear some of the Caister Lifeboat stories on our new audio systems, bringing the display boards to life. There are also a range of short films, including the Children's ITV show Rosie and Jim - where Caister Lifeboat rescued them on The Old Rag Doll! Regular events perfect for children include an Easter Egg Hunt and our Fete & Family Fun Day in August.

Meet our Volunteers

Welcoming you to the Operational Centre and Caister Lifeboat Experience are our close-knit team of volunteers. Knowledgable and enthusiastic about everything to do with one the UK's only volunteer lifeboat stations, they will do their best to answer any questions you have. You may also see our volunteer lifeboat crew carrying out routine maintenance on our offshore lifeboat, Bernard Matthews II, or our inshore lifeboat, Red Dyble. And of course there is always the chance of seeing one of our lifeboats launched!

Visit our Shop & Cafe

Our Shop & Cafe, located in the Operational Centre provide an opportunity to recharge after exploring the Caister Lifeboat Experience next door. The cafe serves hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and home-made cakes. The Shop stocks our especially commissioned range of Caister Lifeboat clothing, stationery, book & gifts - with every pound spent contributing directly to Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service, so a great way to contribute and help us keep our coastline safe!

As an independent Lifeboat we depend entirely on donations
