(MOB) From the gv star of faith
ð Paged: 30th June at 16:44
ð€ Lifeboat launched: 16:53
Caister Lifeboat was tasked to launch following reports of a man overboard (MOB) from the GV Star of Faith, with a crew member reported missing from the vessel near Hemsby.
Shortly after launching, the crew received a second page requesting the launch of our Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) to assist with the search.
Caister Lifeboat arrived on scene at 17:11 and was tasked with searching the vessel and the surrounding area. At 17:46, Humber Coastguard directed the all-weather lifeboat to commence a parallel line search pattern, while the ILB searched back along the route of the GV Star of Faith towards Great Yarmouth.
A number of search assets were involved in the operation, including:
•â â Coastguard Rescue Helicopter Rescue 912
•â â GV Star of Faith
•â â NR Hunter
•â â CRC Vulcan
•â â CRC Walrus
•â â Ava Sofia
•â â Honor Mhari
•â â 1 x Pleasure craft
At 18:21, Rescue 912 located the casualty in the water and directed Caister Lifeboat to proceed immediately to their position. The location was marked by an orange flare dropped from the helicopter.
The casualty was recovered from the water by the lifeboat crew, who immediately commenced CPR. At 18:31, Rescue 912 lowered their medic onto Caister Lifeboat to assist with casualty care.
Caister Lifeboat then made best speed back to the station, arriving at 18:48, where the casualty was met by police, ambulance crews and local Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Sadly, despite the efforts of everyone involved, the casualty could not be saved.
Our thoughts are with the casualty’s family, friends and all those affected by this tragic incident.
