SHOUT REPORT

Paged by Humber Coastguard: 12/07/26 at 19:47.

Both the Caister All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) and Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) were paged and requested to launch. Both boats were in the water by 20:04.

The launch followed reports of a person entering the water at approximately 13:23 in the Scratby / Newport area who had not been seen since.

The initial search area covered the coastline between Winterton and Great Yarmouth, with both Caister lifeboats instructed to head north.

The ILB continued to the northern section of the search area, while the ALB was tasked by Humber Coastguard to turn south and commence a parallel line search from Iron Duke Corner, covering the area both north and south.

At approximately 22:00, having completed the instructed search pattern, the ALB awaited further tasking before carrying out a creeping line search, this time working east to west across the previous search area.

Around 45 minutes later, Humber Coastguard issued a new set of coordinates and the ALB began another parallel line search.

Throughout the incident, the ILB continued searching the northern area while Great Yarmouth & Gorleston RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat searched the waters off Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.

Additional search assets included a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and a Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, both carrying out extensive aerial search patterns.

At approximately 03:00, with no casualty located, both Caister lifeboats were stood down and returned to station. After refuelling and making the boats ready for service, the crew secured the station at approximately 03:30.
